Sobre Tom
Hello, my name is Tom! I’m a TEFL-certified English teacher with a degree from the University of Manchester and over 8 years of experience teaching English both online and in person.
I grew up between British and American cultures, which gave me an early appreciation for language, communication, and the small differences in how English is used around the world. This background helps me guide students through both British and American vocabulary, pronunciation, and expressions with ease.
Over the past eight years I’ve worked with students of many ages and nationalities, from children learning their first English sentences to adults improving their fluency for work, travel, or exams. One of the things I enjoy most about teaching is seeing students gain confidence and realise that communicating in English can actually be enjoyable rather than stressful.
Outside of teaching, I’ve spent time living and travelling in different countries, which has given me a strong understanding of the challenges that come with learning a new language. I also speak German and Spanish, so I know first-hand what it feels like to be on the other side of the classroom.
Students often tell me they appreciate my calm, patient teaching style and the supportive atmosphere in my lessons. My goal is always to create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and steadily improving their confidence in English.
Whether you are learning English for work, studies, travel, or personal interest, I aim to make lessons clear, useful, and enjoyable.

My lessons are designed to be practical, engaging, and tailored to each student’s goals. I focus on building confidence while improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a structured but relaxed environment.
My teaching approach combines conversation-based learning with targeted exercises in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. I believe students learn best by actively using the language, so lessons often include guided discussions, real-life scenarios, reading materials, and short writing tasks. For students preparing for exams or using English professionally, I incorporate specific practice relevant to those goals, such as mock exam questions, presentation practice, or professional communication.
Lessons are typically 50–60 minutes long, which allows enough time for focused practice, feedback, and discussion while keeping sessions energetic and productive. I also adapt the pace and structure depending on the student’s level and objectives.
I have over 8 years of experience teaching English both online and in person to adults and children, and I am TEFL-certified with a degree from the University of Manchester. Over this time I have worked with learners from many different countries and backgrounds, helping them improve their fluency, prepare for exams, and build confidence using English in everyday life and professional settings.
My lessons are suitable for a wide range of learners, from beginners to advanced speakers. I work with both adults and younger students, including those who want to improve conversational English, prepare for exams, develop their writing and reading skills, or learn English for work or travel. Because I also speak German and Spanish, I can sometimes use these languages to help explain difficult concepts when needed.
